The new mobile phone that was just announced today sports several interesting improvements over the Liquid A1.

The most prominent change is the Android 2.1 operating system. Most other features of the new phone are similar to those from the Liquid A1 including the underclocked Snapdragon cpu, the WVGA screen, battery life, memory, connectivity and camera.

The first cell phone of the Acer Liquid series of phones, the Acer Liquid A1, was only released with a white cover by Acer back in December. Even then it was clear that Acer would eventually produce different colored versions of the A1 phone. It still took some time but the time has finally arrived. The first Acer Liquid A1 black cell phones have been spotted in stores (in countries where the phone is already sold).

The only difference between the white and black Acer Liquid phone is the color. All the technical details are identical.

Both drivers contain the Acer Liquid Tool Setup tool which can be used to install the appropriate driver on the computer system running a Windows operating system.

To enable Cloud Sync or sync-over-Wi-Fi*, Acer Sync software components must be installed on your Acer Windows Phone.

The installed USB driver is a requirement for the Acer Sync software to function properly. The Acer Sync software can also be downloaded from Acer’s ftp server.

The Acer Liquid has launched in the UK and some other European countries. Is there a list of release dates available? When will it for instance hit the US and Canada?

I am unable to give a precise date for release in the US & Canada but it is likely to be within the first 3 months of 2010.

Will there be carriers that offer the phone?

Not at present, likely to be in 2010 though.

There you have it from an official source. There are currently no plans up provide Android Liquid A1 owners with an upgrade to Android 2.0. This does not mean that this is not going to happen though but if it is going to happen it will be not in the coming months, that is for sure.

Unboxing videos are usually a great source of first hand information about a device and the Acer Liquid videos are no exemption from that rule. One of the videos for instance mentions that the Acer Liquid A1 supports tethering which is backed up by a screenshot of the manual pages that describe the tethering setup.

Some other interesting factors like the cell phone’s battery life will become accessible in the near future when the first owners post their findings on the Internet.

Acer Liquid Release Date

The Acer Liquid A1 release date will be on November 28 and can already be preordered in some countries such as Spain. This release date is very soon and just before some major other phones come out including the HTC HD2 (which also packs the Snapdragon processor) and other new smartphones that will run the Android operating software. Big surprise is that Acer is able to release this kind of phone way before Dell can – even tough we did hear Dell speaking alot more about it.

If you’re wondering about the Acer Liquid release date, well I’m sorry to inform you that this hasn’t been disclosed yet by the Taiwanese company. Estimates put the release date of Acer Liquid around the holiday season of this year. It really looks like an absolutely amazing phone and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Acer also announced today the Acer Aspire One Android Notebook which will be one of the first netbooks running the Android operating system. The Acer Android Netbook is said to boot in 18 seconds and shutdown in only 3 seconds – both truely amazing numbers.

One feature of Acer Liquid that some users might not be happy with is that its fully a touchscreen and has no keyboard or actual buttons. If you compare the Acer Liquid with the iPhone or the G1 or G2 phones, the Acer Liquid still comes way ahead. The technology inside the phone is way beyond anything that either Apple or HTC have been able to develop. It’s quite fitting that a company like Acer would be the first to release this kind of monstrous powered phone with 800×480 resolution and using the Snapdragon which are both very exciting hardware to have on a smartphone. Acer is currently the leading laptop manufacturer in the world and the second leading computer manufacturer in the world, so it’s not that big of a surprise for them to achieve this breakthrough performance.

No information has been released on the conditions of the phone and whether there will any carriers: a Acer Liquid monthly plan is one thing that smartphones fans will hope won’t exist. Acer is making a major new dive into the smartphone market and it will be interesting to see whether they will want to release to market without some major carrier deals.
