Acer recently launched the new Liquid Mini Smart Phone.

“Mini Size, Maxi Possibilities”, the LiquidMini’s slender frame and gorgeous curves have been ergonomically designed to be compact and fit neatly in your hand. The chrome trim and soft-touch back makes you even more likely to never let this phone escape you grasp.

The Acer Liquid Mini has a vivid display. The crisp 3.2 inch capacitive multi-touch screen provides ample size for your media and a responsive, fluid navigation experience on the liquidmini.

Of course that gorgeous LiquidMini display comes complete with multitouch. Just use your fingers to slide, swipe and zoom the web, your photos and Google Maps.

The Acer LiquidMini is available in five stylish colors. You’ll have a hard time choosing between Royal Blue, Jet Silver, Light Pink, Lime Green and Piano Black.

While it’s beautiful on the outside, The Acer Liquid Mini is no slouch.

The Acer LiquidMini boasts the the Android 2.2 (FroYo) operating system and a 600 MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor.

Acer has just revealed details about a new Acer Liquid series smartphone that they plan to launch in the UK in October. The Acer Liquid Metal S120 is a 3.6 inch handset that sports a 800×480 resolution.

The new cell phone has an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230-1 processor, and supports GSM/EDGE 850/1900 and WCDMA Band II and V standards.

The product specs confirm that the new phone of the Acer Liquid series run on Android 2.2 Froyo, has GPS, Bluetooth and 802.11b/g/n WiFi.

We keep you updated on the development. Pricing and availability on other countries have not been revealed yet. It is however likely that the phone will launch in the US before year’s end.

Acer and Gateway are among the recipients of Japan’s Good Design awards, which have become a trademark for outstanding design and quality internationally. The winning entries are the Acer Aspire 8943G and Gateway EC39 notebooks, Acer Liquid Metal smartphone and Gateway FHD2303L LED monitor. A panel of 70 judges screened more than 3000 entries from around the world on their contributions toward society, culture and the global environment.

“The Good Design Awards’ philosophy – design is a humanitarian act put in the service of the human community – is comparable with Acer’s long-term mission of breaking the barriers between people and technology,” said Gianpiero Morbello, corporate vice president of Marketing & Branding, Acer Inc.

Established in 1957, the Good Design Awards is organized by Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO), and offers signposts for tomorrow’s lifestyle to the public, industry and society overall.

The first cell phone of the Acer Liquid series of phones, the Acer Liquid A1, was only released with a white cover by Acer back in December. Even then it was clear that Acer would eventually produce different colored versions of the A1 phone. It still took some time but the time has finally arrived. The first Acer Liquid A1 black cell phones have been spotted in stores (in countries where the phone is already sold).

The only difference between the white and black Acer Liquid phone is the color. All the technical details are identical.

Acer has published USB drivers for their Acer Liquid smartphone series. These USB drivers come in handy if a customer is experiencing synchronization problems between the smartphone and a computer system. The Liquid USB driver can be downloaded at Acer’s European ftp server. It has a large size of 66 Megabytes which can be partially attributed to the fact that 32-bit and 64-bit drivers for the Acer Liquid are included in the zip file.

Both drivers contain the Acer Liquid Tool Setup tool which can be used to install the appropriate driver on the computer system running a Windows operating system.

To enable Cloud Sync or sync-over-Wi-Fi*, Acer Sync software components must be installed on your Acer Windows Phone.

The installed USB driver is a requirement for the Acer Sync software to function properly. The Acer Sync software can also be downloaded from Acer’s ftp server.

We have created a list of questions that had yet to be answered by Acer about their debut Acer Liquid A1 smartphone. The questions addressed several “unknown” factors about the cell phone that potential customers wanted to know before making a purchase. Our contact at Acer sat down with us and answered all of the questions that we had. Below are the most pressing matters and their official answers by an Acer representative:

The Acer Liquid has launched in the UK and some other European countries. Is there a list of release dates available? When will it for instance hit the US and Canada?

I am unable to give a precise date for release in the US & Canada but it is likely to be within the first 3 months of 2010.

Will there be carriers that offer the phone?

Not at present, likely to be in 2010 though.

The phone ships with Android 1.6, will it be possible to upgrade to Android 2

his is not planned at present.

Is the screen multi-touch capable?

This will depend on the Android system, with Android 1.6 it isn’t possible.

Is there a tethering option?

There is no tethering option

Does the phone support FM radio?

The phone does not support FM radio.

Is Flash for web browsing integrated?

Flash for web browsing is not integrated.

There you have it from an official source. There are currently no plans up provide Android Liquid A1 owners with an upgrade to Android 2.0. This does not mean that this is not going to happen though but if it is going to happen it will be not in the coming months, that is for sure.

The Acer Liquid A1 smartphone went on sale just a few days ago in several European countries. Shortly thereafter first so called unboxing videos appeared on the popular video portal Youtube. Unboxing videos are videos by customers who bought the Acer Liquid A1 and decided to film the unboxing process.

Unboxing videos are usually a great source of first hand information about a device and the Acer Liquid videos are no exemption from that rule. One of the videos for instance mentions that the Acer Liquid A1 supports tethering which is backed up by a screenshot of the manual pages that describe the tethering setup.
